Cured Resin in Maine
Cured resin is where most people find their everyday concentrate. It's extracted from dried, cured flower using a solvent — usually butane — which strips the resin from the plant material and is then purged off under vacuum and gentle heat.
Why solvent, when rosin exists
Fair question, and the honest answer is efficiency. Solvent extraction pulls far more from the same material than ice water and a press do, which is why cured resin costs a fraction of what rosin does per gram.
Done properly, the solvent is gone. Done badly, it isn't.
Who actually makes ours
We don't run a hydrocarbon lab and we're not going to pretend we do. It's a specialised job with serious equipment and serious licensing behind it, and it should be done by people who do nothing else.
The two labs we work with most are Oasis Refinery in Gardiner and SeaWeed Co. in South Portland. Both are a phone call away, and both have been at this long enough to have a reputation worth protecting.
A bad purge isn't visible in the jar and half the time it isn't smellable either — so with any solvent extract, knowing who made it does most of the work. Which is why we'd rather tell you the lab than tell you it's "premium".
How to judge one
Colour tells you less than people think, but very dark usually means older material or a hot purge. Smell tells you more — it should smell like cannabis, not like solvent or like nothing at all. And it should melt cleanly; heavy residue in the banger means plant material made it through.
