Cannabis Edibles in Maine
An edible is not smoking with a longer wait. It's a different experience with different chemistry behind it, and nearly every bad edible story comes from treating the two as the same thing.
Why it feels different
When you smoke, THC goes from your lungs straight into your blood. When you eat it, it passes through your liver first — and your liver converts a large share of the delta-9 THC into 11-hydroxy-THC, a different compound that crosses into the brain more readily.
That's the whole explanation. The same milligram eaten does something noticeably stronger, and considerably longer, than the same milligram inhaled. It's also why a high smoking tolerance doesn't transfer. Those are two different tolerances.
The clock is the part people get wrong
Onset is typically 30 minutes to two hours. Two hours is not unusual on a full stomach. The peak comes later still, and the whole thing runs four to eight hours — longer at higher doses.
The classic mistake: nothing at 45 minutes, so you take another. Both doses then arrive together, ninety minutes later. If you take one thing from this page, take this — set a timer, and don't redose inside two hours.
Finding your amount
If you've never had one, start at 2.5 to 5mg and give it a full two hours before you decide anything at all.
Read the milligrams per piece rather than per package. Two pieces that look identical can be five milligrams and fifty, and the only place that difference appears is the label. And eat something first — fat helps absorption, but an edible on an empty stomach comes on faster and harder than the same one after dinner.
Where ours come from
We don't make edibles ourselves. We carry them from Maine makers we buy from directly — the same way we handle flower we didn't grow — because we know who's behind them and we've tried what we sell. We'll tell you which are distillate and which are full-spectrum, and what to expect from each.
Keeping them
Cool and dark, and stored somewhere they won't be mistaken for ordinary food by anyone else in the house. Most edibles keep for months; chocolate and anything with dairy are the exceptions.
